Is there a way to make Java generic array instantiation code re-usable?
The Problem:
I have a number of classes whose methods are passing arrays as parameters. These classes are making calls to methods in other classes whose methods are not aware of the specific type of array and are using new ArrayType() where ArrayType can be any of the classes above. The methods that are receiving the array are using cast on the parameter, and using Java generics I want to cast the specific array to the correct type. I've been thinking of the following, but I'm not sure how to implement:
/* Class C */
public void method(){
int[] data = new int[3];
method2(data);
}
private static void method2(A[] data){}
And the above would be utilized thusly:
/* Class C2 */
public void method2(int[] data){}
So my question is, is there a way to implement the above, and keep it clean, modular, and fast?

If you want to use the most flexible way, it would be to use a List and have method() change it to
List data = new ArrayList();
method2(data);
Then method2 will be able to work with List, List etc. Also, method2 doesn't need to know the type of A, you could change it to
void method2(List data) {
There is no need to change method1, but if it doesn't do anything that needs to be flexible, it could be a cleaner way.
